Minutes of meeting - 9 Aug 2008

There was a lot of lively discussion in our Communication Workshop by Sangeeta Basu. Thanks to Neerada for the great snacks and to Anuja (as always) for all the arrangements. We learnt a lot and communicated with each other!

Look forward to an invite for the next meeting on "personal styling" probably on Nov 15 or Nov 22. Till then have a happy Diwali and Dassera!

Dear SCESA Bangalore girls!

Announcing Aruna Badrinarayan as our President!

We have an exciting program for Saturday, 9th of August 2008!

A COMMUNICATION SKILLS WORKSHOP
Time required: 2 hours.
STRUCTURE OF THE WORKSHOP:
· Orientation and Ice Breaker
This unit aims to establish group feel and explains the objective of the workshop. We begin the workshop with an exercise that breaks inhibition and encourages interaction.
· Energy, Body, and Voice.
We take a look at how communication is affected by the language our bodies speak. We find our energy and transfer this to an audience. We learn how to use energy effectively to inspire listeners. We learn how to use to advantage the instrument we have – our voice. This unit gives us the confidence that we need if we are to be effective communicators.
· Content, audience, and negotiation.
How do we say what we want to? How do we find this information on the spur of the moment, organize it, and deliver it without faltering? This unit teaches us to think on our feet and remain in control of our communication. We also learn that the audience plays a significant role in communication. Exercises in this unit aim to help us negotiate this relationship.
The workshop ends with a feedback.
All workshops at Little Extra are video recorded for purposes of archiving information.
